Thomas Drayton showed up to South Carolina from Barbados on board the boat Mary in 1679. An enumeration of the island of Barbados that year recorded that Drayton possessed 12 sections of land, seven slaves, and the agreement of one white worker, notwithstanding one recruited, white worker.
